Helix Commercial Heat 5 min read

Heat is the oldest recovery ritual there is, and in a facility it is one of the easiest to love: low supervision, high dwell time, and a genuinely pleasant place for members to spend fifteen minutes. The trick is buying a sauna built to run all day, every day, rather than a domestic cabin asked to do a job it was never designed for. That is where a commercial specification, and a proper install, earn their keep.

Why operators are adding heat

A sauna is a magnet. It extends visits, it gives members a reason to stay after training, and it pairs naturally with a cold plunge to create the contrast experience people now actively seek out. It also carries some of the strongest long-term health evidence of any recovery modality, which makes it easy to talk about honestly. The full picture, including the large Finnish cohort studies on regular sauna use, is laid out in our Science Lab guide to the traditional sauna.

Traditional, not infrared, and why

Helix supplies traditional and barrel saunas and steam rooms. We do not sell infrared saunas, and that is a deliberate decision rather than a gap in the range. The deepest long-term evidence sits with the traditional Finnish sauna, and we would rather stand behind that than chase a trend. We set out the honest comparison, including where infrared does and does not stack up, in our Science Lab guide to infrared saunas.

The Helix commercial saunas

From a compact barrel for a boutique studio to a full traditional cabin or steam room for a spa, the range is specified to your space, your throughput and your power supply.

Specifying for a facility

A sauna needs a suitable electrical supply, safe clearances, ventilation, and a floor and surround that cope with heat and moisture. Steam rooms add waterproofing and drainage to the list. None of it is difficult, but all of it is worth getting right before install day. Helix surveys the space, confirms the electrics and the build detail, and delivers and installs the finished room, so what arrives is ready to use rather than a flat pack and a problem.

Running costs and upkeep

Heat has an energy cost, and a commercial sauna should be specified with that in mind: efficient heaters, sensible insulation, and controls that let you schedule warm-up and shut-down around opening hours rather than heating an empty room. Timber needs occasional care, and steam rooms need routine cleaning, but day to day a well-built sauna is one of the lowest-maintenance items on a recovery floor.

What it returns

Sauna is a high-dwell, low-supervision amenity that members use again and again, which makes it one of the steadier earners in a recovery space. Paired with cold it becomes a destination in its own right. Model it on realistic all-day utilisation and it tends to justify itself quickly, and the health story behind it, backed by the studies in our Science Lab, gives your team something true and compelling to say.

4 to 7xa week is the sauna frequency associated with the largest benefits in the Finnish cohort research. The evidence, laid out honestly, is in our Science Lab.

Delivered, installed and serviced

Helix delivers, installs and services across the UK and Europe. For a sauna or steam room that means a proper build in your space by people who fit these rooms for a living, and one team to call if you ever need anything after.

Common questions

How much does a commercial sauna cost?
The Eldur barrel sauna starts from £5,999. Traditional cabins and steam rooms are specified and quoted around your space, capacity and finish.

Does Helix sell infrared saunas?
No. Helix supplies traditional and barrel saunas and steam rooms, because the strongest long-term evidence sits with the traditional Finnish sauna. Our Science Lab explains the reasoning in full.

What does a commercial sauna need to be installed?
A suitable electrical supply, ventilation, safe clearances and a heat and moisture tolerant floor and surround. Steam rooms also need waterproofing and drainage. Helix confirms all of it at survey.

Does Helix install saunas nationwide?
Yes. We deliver, install and service across the UK and Europe.

What our customers say

★★★★★

Amazing products. The ice bath and chiller we use daily, and honestly one of the best life purchases we have ever made. So impressed we bought the outdoor sauna too. Great products and an amazing team.

Purchased a cold plunge back in 2024, one of the best purchases ever alongside my sauna. Climbing in first thing in the morning, or after a hard bike session, there really isn't much that compares to the boost you get from it.
